Not a single creature deserves to be mistreated or abused…
In previous blogs, we came to know about the benefits of being a vegan in health and the environment. But now the question is, what about our ethics?
Just to satisfy your needs, you are using animals the way you want. Will it be ok if someone uses you for their means? If you are not ok, then how can you justify your actions towards an animal?
As per some great sayings
Until we dare to recognize cruelty for what it is - whether its victim is human or animal - we cannot expect things to be much better in this world. There can be no double standard. We cannot have peace among men whose hearts find delight in killing any living creature. By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic delight in killing, we set back the progress of humanity.
Veganism is a continuous process to civilize a man concerning animals and the environment. Veganism believes that the life of an animal is much more precious than satisfying our taste buds and following fashion.
Unfortunately, animal exploitation is widely present in our daily lives, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear. It can be hard for many people to change their habits until and unless they don’t realize that it is wrong to exploit animals. Also, we have to keep trying to motivate these people to stop following such cruel practices. It is important to keep a clear vision of our ultimate goal, i.e. ... to respect animals and avoid harming them as much as possible.
Don’t eat meat or any other animal products, because they are unhealthy and they are the product of a violent and inhumane industry.
Because of the growing demand for animal-based products, the food industry had to reply by increasing the efficiency of its products like meat, dairy, and other similar products. This rapid change in production has amplified the problem of animal cruelty. Animals are forced to reside in cramped conditions, often in windowless sheds where there is no natural sunlight, no grass, and no fresh air.
In dairy farms, dairy cows face a lifetime of forced impregnation, having their babies taken away from them so that all the milk will be collected. To add more on this, when they are no longer considered ‘profitable’, they are usually sent to the slaughterhouse. Whether it is an egg industry or a fishing industry or any other, each one has the same situation that tells us about the cruelty of humans.
All of this is done in the name of producing meat and dairy products as quickly and cheaply as possible. Due to this, many animals will die before they leave the farm and for the rest, a bloody and brutal death at the slaughterhouse awaits as they will experience more fear and pain before they die there.
The animals generally arrive at slaughterhouses in a weakened physical and psychological state. They are hungry, exhausted, and often confused and frightened. They undergo terrible psychological suffering. In addition to the distress of not knowing where they are, crowded together and often have little protection from temperature extremes. They see other animals being killed and hear their cries. All this is frightening to them. This happens after a very harsh journey from farms.
The most well-known quote in the animal rights movement is
“If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian."
But, if we talk about the condition of dairy animals at dairy farms, it should be like
“If slaughterhouses and dairy farms had glass walls, everyone would be vegan."
Deciding what we will eat clarifies choosing between the horrors of factory farming and the respect for animals.
Not only for food items, but these animals are unnecessarily trapped, caged, hurt, and even killed for testing of personal care, and household items, to make clothes, accessories, and furniture for human use. We are using them as a commodity and believe that they are inferior and may therefore be used for human benefit without regard to the suffering executed.
We forget that animals, too, are sentient beings capable of experiencing pain and a range of emotions. They too have the right to live like us. Just because they can’t complain to us, we are treating them in the way we want.
To keep “animal welfare” as a central concern, a vegan makes efforts to raise awareness about the ethical treatment of animals, promoting a lifestyle that aligns with a commitment to animal welfare.
A vegan person cares about the animals of this earth and believes that, like humans, animals also have the right to live. We can’t use them for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason.
Now a question comes for you,
Should we oppose exploiting animals, causing them needless suffering, and killing them, or we should avoid all of it?
As long as people demand animal products, there will be industrial animal agriculture, and this will continue to happen. Raising and eating meat leaves behind an environmental toll that generations to come will be forced to pay. Choosing veganism is one of the best things we can do to help to stop animal cruelty. If we refuse to pay for animal products, we can reduce the demand for them, which ensures fewer animals are bred to suffer and die on farms and in slaughterhouses.
"Now, it's your turn. Take the first step to carry these ethics forward in our hearts and actions. You have the power to change the world simply by changing what’s on your plate. Thinking about the animals who need you to do it, can strengthen your willpower.
“Be the voice for the voiceless.”
I am gonna leave you with this thought…
